Can Allergies Begin in Adulthood?
Yes. Allergies can develop at any age, and new allergic sensitization in adults — including food allergy, seasonal allergy, and drug allergy — is well documented across clinical research and practice. The common assumption that allergies are exclusively a childhood phenomenon is incorrect. Many adults develop their first confirmed allergy symptoms after years of tolerating a food or environmental exposure without apparent reaction.
